Lunar Rover Vehicle Longboard

Staying with the celestial bodies, like the moon. I stumbled across an interesting board from Ehlers Longboards with the Moon, Craw and with the enticing name of LRV, which stands for Lunar Rover Vehicle.

The moon has always intrigued me as it’s the closed space body and the only one visited by mankind (for now…).

Wicked September Equinox is upon us – 23 September!

It’s almost that time of the year – the September Equinox

Sept 1st is considered the start of the fall by meteorologists for record keeping purposes.

However the autumnal equinox signals the beginning of astronomical fall. This year, that happens this Wednesday, Sept. 23.

The exact times for the USA this year:

  • Eastern Daylight Time: 4:21 a.m.
  • Central Daylight Time: 3:21 a.m.
  • Mountain Daylight Time: 2:21 a.m.
  • Pacific Daylight Time: 1:21 a.m

In Latin, the word “equinox” means “equal night” – “equi” meaning “equal” and “nox” meaning “night.”

Dwindling daylight, falling temperatures

As the days continue to shorten and the sun stays lower in the sky, temperatures begin to drop significantly.

After Wednesday the hours of daylight will grow shorter until the winter solstice, which begins at 11:49 p.m. EST on Dec. 21. This will be the darkest day of the year, meaning the day with the least amount of daylight.

Day and Night longboards

Equinox: Day and night are the same, so when I came across a day and night set of longboards I was excited and challenged at the same time.

Should I favor the day and spend 12 hours on the day board or go for the night and spent 12 hours on the night board, should I get both or just stick to one. So many choices.

There are many pintail longboard with great decorations but not that many that come in a day and night version, so you can see how delightful I was discovering these at www.longboardsusa.com. The sunrise on the tropical day punked pintail is so bright and the colors are so vibrant they are hard to ignore. The pacific flowers and hibiscus make it all attractive and wishing I was back in Hawaii, living the good live and enjoying the beach, sun and tropics.

Tropical day pintail longboard 40 inch

Getting side tracked a bit,…. don’t you think that Hawaii is one of the magical places you could go to over and over again?

‘sunrise’ is defined as the moment the upper edge of the sun’s disk becomes visible above the horizon – not when the center of the sun is visible

The night version of this insanely good looking board just blows you mind with the great sunset and palm trees. The tropical night pintail longboard is a whole 40 inches long and

‘sunset’ refers to the moment the Sun’s upper edge, not the center, disappears below the horizon. The time it takes for the sun to fully rise and set, which is several minutes

Did you know that the sunset time is added to the day and subtracted from the night, and therefore the equinox day lasts a little longer than 12 hours. So they are not exactly the same .

It’s fascinating to think and look at the day and night being the same length, however it didn’t help me decide to pick between the tropical day and tropical night longboard..

the best is to get both?? :-)

Equinox – the movie (1970)

More interesting stuff about the equinox this time a movie. All kind of weird stuff happens around the equinox and this was a “great” horror story.

Four friends are attacked by a demon while on a picnic, due to possession of a tome of mystic information. Told in flashbacks by the sole survivor.

The film’s story concerns four young people, two guys and two girls, who decide to visit some old professor-guy in the mountains. While there, they stumble upon a series of strange things: an out-of-place castle, a mysterious park ranger, a terrifying old man in a cave, an ancient book filled with pure evil, and finally a demonic portal that unleashes strange and violent creatures.

Movie from the 1970 – also know as The Equinox… A Journey into the Supernatural,

Starring Edward Connell

Equinox, what is it?

Here what the experts from wikipedia have to say about equinox:

An equinox occurs twice a year, around 21 March and 23 September. The word itself has several related definitions. The oldest meaning is the day when daytime and night are of approximately equal duration.[2] The word equinox comes from this definition, derived from the Latin aequus (equal) and nox (night). The equinox is not exactly the same as the day when period of daytime and night are of equal length for two reasons. Firstly, sunrise, which begins daytime, occurs when the top of the Sun’s disk rises above the eastern horizon. At that instant, the disk’s center is still below the horizon. Secondly, Earth’s atmosphere refracts sunlight. As a result, an observer sees daylight before the first glimpse of the Sun’s disk above the horizon. To avoid this ambiguity, the word equilux is sometimes used to mean a day on which the periods of daylight and night are equal.[3][note 1] Times of sunset and sunrise vary with an observer’s location (longitude and latitude), so the dates when day and night are closest together in length depend on location.
